It is not just looks ...but brains that now switches the ladies on..
Sportsmen have hitherto been altogether too brutal to be objects of desire for the educated Finnish female.
They are sweaty, tracksuited neanderthals, who attempt to compenstate for their missing teeth gear by acquiring an equivalent number of expensive sports cars.
They have not read above one volume in their lives, either a coach's autobiography or a joint-the-dots book, and their mathematical skills can be roughly determined from the typical expression:
"We're going to go flat out in the game, 110 percent",
or Matti Nykänen's immortal "The chances are fifty-sixty".

I don't know about Finnish women, but as an American woman, I can tell you that the athletic standard is nice (i.e., good looking, great physique, etc.) but nothing will shut me down faster than listening to some mumbling moron go on about a topic that he knows nothing about.
Case in point, yesterday I was watching the San Jose Sharks game against the Detroit Red Wings (the Sharks beat the Wings 5-1, so that was enough to make my evening). The Red Wings aren't typically respected by anyone except those in Detroit or those transplanted from Detroit. Anyway, I digress...The game was on the Sharks' home ice so, during the intermissions, they did these little stories on certain Sharks players. They asked a question of Mark Smith of the Sharks and I almost fell over. What an airhead! I would NEVER go out with a guy like that. What kind of substantive conversation could you have with someone that cannot form a coherent sentence?
Anyway, for me (and I know a lot of other ladies here in the States) the looks, body and athleticism are great, but we want the smarts to go with the total package.
That's why I have to go back to Teemu and say as we do in St. Louis, "The boy is off the hook!"

Remember I told here about this curler who taught us just prior to the olympics? Well, he has curling lessons this weekend at Ogeli, and I'm going there. Fortunately my excitement with curling started before this olympic fever, because that course (and another time I booked) went full quite fast, believe me. Actually I hope some that hype around this new hit sport of the Finns will calm down somewhat, so that it'll not be a problem to get times to play. Or, maybe I'll set up a new curling hall to Helsinki...in order to practise for Vancouver 2010.
