To move from the US to Finland? Do you have to be 18? (Sorry if this has already been asked before..)

I have no idea what the US age for emigrating is.

Although you are legally an adult in Finland at 18, you should still be in school for another year.

So an 18 year old Yank coming to Finland alone? I don't know, maybe the Finnish government would expect you to go to school for another year!

Well, actually I'm only 16 right now.. I'd be almost 17 when I'd be planning to move. I'm hoping to get into the university in Helsinki, or the music academy. I'm just not sure on where to find out the age requirement, if any. x_x

Dunno about early entry here... try asking here http://finland.cimo.fi/

In England you used to be able to start Uni as soon as you had your A-levels, one guy studying the same course as I was on was 17 when he started. Got his Ph.D. at 23   I also tutored a girl who was 17 when she started uni. But it's very rare even in the UK.

I've never heard of anyone going to uni 1 or 2 years year early in Finland, there doesn't seem to be Kudos for achieving early. Many Finnish guys do their military service before University, so start at 20. IMHO 17 may well be too young to get entrance, but do ask CIMO.

A-levels? Ehh.. I really have no idea what that is. But I'll be going with my GED (yeah, I know it's not that great, but the reason I didn't finish highschool has nothing to do with me being stupid, more of a lack of credits due to being sick..)

So I would have been entering into Uni here this year.. Hm.. I'll check that out though, thanks. (:

Don't worry about A-Levels, it's the UK exams at 18, at the end of high school, i.e. before University. I used it as a frame of reference as it's very unusual to go to Uni in the UK before 18, In Finland it is AFAIK very unusual to go to university beofre 19.

There's a Russian girl in my class at Helia who started when she was 17. She turned 18 in November.
