Where can you play Ice Hockey in Helsinki during the summer?

Post by Joe (Llama) » Fri Apr 07, 2006 7:26 pm

I'm a resident of Detroit, USA (HockeyTown)...

I'm studying abroad in Helsinki through HSE for the summer.
The dates are MAY thru AUGUST, and I was wondering if there
was any place to play ice hockey while I was there.

I've play with canadians in toronto and it was quite the experience
so if any of you could help me I'd love to find a place to play with
some Finns while I'm in Helsinki.

If its just hacking around then check the oldtimers with this team and they can steer you to a group.

IHK, Helsinki

Then this may help

Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto ry.
Mäkelänkatu 91
00610 Helsinki

Keskus (09) 756 750
Telefax (09) 756 755 75

Toimisto on avoinna arkisin klo 9-16. Kesäperjantaisin suljemme klo 14.

But ice time is scarce at the best of times and very difficult in the summer.

Malmi jäähalli has just opened and it has 3 rinks, it might be a good place to check out.

Now finding kooks inside skating in the *summer* is more of a challenge.

If someone works anything out, PM me. I'm already pining for my hockey fixes, and it's not even summer
