EU registration and queues in Helsinki

Post by tulikukka » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:40 pm

Hi,

I have heard that queues for getting the registration certificate as a EU citizen living in Finland is quite long. Any experiences of the time it will take? Which reasons (if any) are adequate for speeding up the process?

Thank you for your answears!

Hello,

Our registeration took around 2 and half months, it would had been taking long if I had not called to the Malmi police station before. When I called to the police station on the morning, they said I can pick up the registeration paper in 1 hour (they had not done anything for the application till that). They also said that writing the paper itself takes 10 minutes, but there is a huge line.

They can only speed up your application when you really have a good reason for it; I mentioned that my work wants to see that I am really registered here.

There is also a green P.O Box for speeding applications in Malmi police station.
