We are moving back to the states at some point before the fall. I may be moving ahead of my wife. Do I need to do anything in regards to my residence permit or just leave? Also, how many out there have gone through the petition process for bringing a Finnish spouse back to the states? I am on the verge of filing the petition and just curious what people had to say about the time tables and if there was anything that tripped them up? Thanks.
Back to the States

Well, you both just need to file a "muuttoilmoitus" as you'd be moving within Finland. That takes care of the tax office, banks etc. etc. And then its also a good idea to file with the Post Office and pay up for one year of forwarding.
Cheers, Hank W.

I have brought my finnish wife back to the states took about 2 months for the paper work but that was during the summer which is slower.
My brother did it in September with his Finnish wife and it took 18 days. You are an American Citizen I assume?
