FYI & Comments. On the EC Permit sticker...

Post by network_engineer » Tue May 09, 2006 4:27 pm

Hi all,

FYI: Based on feedback received, it seems that the Finnish Permanent Residence permit would be cancelled if the EC Long Term status permit is granted.

For comments:
What would be written on the EC Permit, if issued in Finland? The Finnish translation of the Directive http://europa.eu.int/smartapi/cgi/sga_d ... =109&lg=fi implies that it would be the whole text "pitkään oleskelleen kolmannen maan kansalaisen EY-oleskelulupa", whereas in other language translations, it is:

FR: "résident de longue durée - CE"
DE: "Daueraufenthalt - EG"
EN: "long-term resident - EC"
SV: "varaktigt bosatt inom EG"

Oh boy! Don't tell me I would have to lug a lousy translation (it looked like something cooked up by a fifth grader) around with me while travelling!!! It was only about last year, when the UVI finally recognised the travelling difficulties by using only Finnish in the permits and introduced both Finnish and Swedish/English in to the permits.

Comments???

Its "permanent" in Swedish in the new current Finnish one, so the Swedish one is clear as mud as well.
