Hello,
I am planning to move to Finland this summer and am trying to roughly estimate my taxes for the claendar year. I am using the 2006 tax calculator from the vero.fi website. I have a couple of very basic questions regarding the tax calculation:
1) After I enter my yearly salary, domicile, population register, etc, the tax calculator for the rest of the year returns two figures (expressed in %). One is the "basic percentage" and the other is the "additional percentage" of tax estimate. Does "basic percentage" correspond to the % thats going to be deducted from my monthly wage/salary?
2) I am not sure about the "additional percentage" but I am guessing that it corresponds to the % of money that will be deducted from any additional income like bonuses, other benefits, etc. Am I correct in my understanding?
3) Also, is the healthcare payment (my tax calculator shows that its 1.5% of the salary) included in the "basic percentage" estimation? Or am I supposed to pay it on top my "basic percentage" tax?
Thanks very much for any help on this!

Pension + unemployment insurance contributions
Just clarifying this fact: I guess I have to contribute for the "Employment pension contributions" and "Unemployment insurance contributions" (which accounts to roughly 5% of my wage) from my monthly salary, right? So effectively my tax is my "Basic Percentage' + 5% approx. (pension + unemployment contributions).
Thanks!
Thanks!
