I have been insulted and attacked because of my accent.
I've been judged to be a flaming racist because I am from the South.

To the people who have judged me and attacked me, I say to you that you have never lived where I've lived, experienced what I have experienced, never been chased and beaten just because you are white. You know nothing of my life.

Maybe I've not contributed anything to the Finish health care system but my wife has worked in Finland and contributed to the system for over 20 years. I have my own retirement and I have taken nothing from the Finish system. I would have paid my taxes, just like everyone else and spent my money in the Finish economy.

For those of you who think I am so racist, I say to you that you should come here to live before you pass judgment on me.
Try moving into a Black section of town and see how long you last. As a matter of fact, just drive through the Black section of town and see what kind of racial slurs you wil hear directed at you.
I would also advise you that if you value your life, I wouldn't go around calling them "Darkies"

This has now ended because I will not be coming back to read or post anything on this board. Nor will I be moving back to Finland. I just told my wife that she can go by herself because I am not going back to Finland where people will treat me as some of you people have treated me.

Please rest assured you made the right decision - if you couldn't cope with some douchebag expats on the internet, how did you expect to cope with reality of life here? Those guys are touchey-feeley-nice compared with Finnish bureaucrats. You must remember that people here have six dark winter months to get cabin fever... if it makes an expat rabid, guess what it does to the local genes. I used to be an apologist, now it just irritates the crap out of me. Most of the Finns with money retire in the south of Spain and only visit during the summer months, too.

Not to mention with the dollar being so low against the euro and the high cost of living here, it's not a great place to make your SS dollars go very far.
