In about half a month I`ll move to Finland for at least a year. Gonna be an AuPair for the first year (starting early August) and travel through Finland in July before that. I`ve been there twice so far and am getting more nervous each day..
Would be very happy about daily life tipps from you.. maybe some Do`s and Don`t`s or mhm.. haha dunno.
I`m gonna stay near Helsinki and so far I`ve been to Helsinki and Tampere. Gonna visit Lapland, Tampere, Helsinki, Karkkila and Kuopio in July too.

Half a month left - I`m getting nervous..

Here are my grossly exaggerated do's and don't. Do read them of your own free will but don't take them too seriously
Do: Drink lots (but dont drink and drive)
Do: Drive like there's no other road users ignorning everyone and NEVER yield to ANYONE, EVER
Do: Let doors slam on people
Do: Feel free to urinate in public places, particulary when you have been drinking
Do: Spit. Lots.
Don't: Speak to anyone when using public transport
Don't: Smile at anyone who you don't know. Blank expressions will make you appear more integrated
Don't: Talk unless you have to, and when you do talk, use as few words as possible
Don't: Get caught speeding
Don't: Walk on the cycle lane

Do: Learn to stare non-Caucasian foreigner like (s)he is living on your tax money.
Do: Feel very upset and pissed off when you see a foreigner with latest car model.
Important: The above points are not to be taken seriously

Why ARE you still there

I think your use of the word "there" rather than "here" (as in like you don't live "here") would give you the authority to judge on how bitter people are about living "here."
So "there."

You are funny. By usung the word "funny" I'm actually trying to be nice and to avoid using words like for example "prejudist". You know, one of those people who at very possible sign of any level of anything being not 100% clear always default their thinking to the worst and base their arguments on that... Or would "bitter" be a better word?
About "there". Like Americans often say "It's a free country and I know my rights". Including the right to travel. Yes, I do happen to be outside of Finland at the moment. Your reaction though makes me wonder: is it fame of immigration authorities that makes you jealous and the next thing you'll do will be requesting my proof of residence before being allowed to post here? May be you'll want to see my rental and utilities bills, my YTV card and my tri-monthly pass to Mäkelänrinteen Uintikeskus?

And by "prejudiced" I mean, why not live in Finland, if you like it so much?
And yes, we will be needing to see those documents, ASAP.

why not live in Finland, if you like it so much?
1. I never said I liked it. I asked why do those pepole who dislike it so much still live in Finland.
2. Sorry, man, despite the FACT that I do live in Finland indeed, no offense but I can't see you as any authority over me. Which means IF my residential thingies will be presented to anyone I highly, highly doubt that'd be you.
