Cheap(er) tickets from US to Finland

Post by KaDaSa » Fri Jul 14, 2006 2:16 pm

I was just pricing tickets for the heck of it and found roundtrip fares from the US to Finland (from Washington, D.C. to Helsinki) for less than $600 per adult on Travelocity. Not bad considering oil prices right now.

I know Hank...it's best not to think about it if one is still on this side of the pond. Zeroth what part of VA are you from? I'm in Fredericksburg.

Is that the cheapest you've found? That actually sounds pretty good compared to what I've been looking at. I'm from the west coast of the U.S. so it would be a little different. I'd love to visit Finland next year, so any info on that sort of thing would be useful.

those flying from the west coast dont flight direct to Finland. Try like LA SF or Sea to Copenhagen then turku or helsinki. Its often not much more expensive than direct to Finland. SAS has good deals and comfy planes compared to Finnair

Wow, that is a good fare! :D :D :D

We just have to write a million e-mails to a million cousins...

How far in advance was the fare for and which airline?

We got really cheap tickets to Guadalajara, Mexico from WDC (actually Dulles) on Orbitz taking Delta. Our fares worked out to $340/person -- cheaper than going to San Francisco.

As I recall the two carriers offering these prices were Austria Air and KLM/Northwest...2 to 3 months out (at the time I checked). I would expect that ticket prices will be going up around Christmas time.
