A question concerning importing cars tax free:
- The ownerof the car (guy moving to Finland) must have been living outside Finland for at least the previous 12 months before moving to Finland
- The owner must have owned (and used) the car for at least six months before coming to Finalnd
Correct? I'm particularly interested to know about the 12-months-rule
Importing cars, Hank, do you know?

Tack ska du har!
Suck eggs. It looks like there's a job coming my way for 6 months in the country where money grows on trees and the roads are paved with gold. Too bad I can't import a car from there tax free. Nevermind. And no, I will not move there for 12 months. No way.

Well, you could move *out* of Finland for a year... not spend the whole time in *one* country... But you know me, I'd do 12 months just for the car

Cheers, Hank W.

Hey,
I just moved here a few months ago, working at Satama MST.
Is it legal to drive a car here that's registered in my home country but not on my name? Friendly loan from a friend back home?

Are you sure you are still insured?
Are you living and working (as in : fiscally domiciled) here in Finland?

yes, I'm insured...registered/living here for 3 months now (working 2 months) but my permanent residence is still back home..
I don't have a car yet, I'm just wondering if it's possible to aquire it that way to dodge the tax thing
