I might be wrong but I think it's your actual citizenship that matters here, not your status in Finland. I'm under impression that Americans have had unilateral visa-free entry for long time by now.

How about my wife? She is Chinese and when she arrives here, she will have residence permit, but she is obviously not EU citizen, so does she need to apply a visa for visiting Estonia? At least before it comes a Shengen country.
