french kindergarden

Post by thea » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:31 pm

Hello,
would anyone have any information regarding french kindergarden in Espoo/Helsinki region. My baby will be 1 year-old in January and I should start looking for one.

I have received some names but I don't know anything about them. Have you heard about any of them. Here are the names:
- Jasmin
- Paivakoti Tikru
- Les Galopins
At what age do they take babies, are the "teachers" native french speakers, what are their programs, any positive or negative comments about them...

Is there any other french kindergarden?

Thank you for your help.

Le Club des Cinq.... in Haukilahti, right on the coast, walking distance to the beach. My son was there for one year and really loved it. The assistants were mostly French native speakers and were qualified. By law they have to employ a Finnish assistant as the pre-school year must be partly taught in Finnish. As far as I know the youngest they take is 3 yrs old (but you might be able to get a two year old in..... not sure)

L'école Jules Verne.... in Lehtisaari, takes from 3 years into Petite Section Maternelle and follows the programme of the Éducation Nationale. I worked there (very briefly) the professeurs are French native speakers.

I don't know of any French speaking day-cares that take toddlers UNDER 3 yrs.

You can get more info on the http://www.ranska.net forum.

Hi Thea,

You´re right to start looking for a place already. I know that the Jasmin kindergarden takes under 2 years old as well, I guess they still have a little group for little ones (even a couple of 1,5 years old ones in that group).

About the staff, it seems it changes for a year to another (french and finns)
If you want more details about this place, pm me.
