A recovering alcoholic, 30-year-old writer Alain Leroy (Ronet) has been resting for
several months in a private Versailles clinic. Urged by the doctor to leave because he is
"cured," the writer goes to Paris to see his friends. While wandering around the city
looking for old friends and drinking pals, Alain discovers to his dismay that his former
confidants seem to have betrayed their youthful ideals.

with the province soon proves to be a rather premature conclusion, as she learns very

(Géret) of murder, she postpones her return to Paris and decides to solve the case on her
own.
