Christmas gift for a 9-yr-old girl ... any ideas?

Post by Jools » Mon Nov 27, 2006 1:05 pm

what kind of toys do 9-year-old girls play with these days? can someone suggest what I should buy for my niece? I'm told she likes barbies but has too many of them already.

I'm thinking of toys rather than books or clothes as she gets plenty of the latter ones from her parents. So, if anyone has any ideas ...

It depends on the price range...

... and the 9 year old.

What about a car for a Barbie (although we have a few unused ones now in the house)... I think 9 is getting to the end of Barbie age myself.

My daughter is into the paper doll sets (clothes etc for paper dolls)... seems a bit old fashioned but she likes them.

Horse riding lessons if you feel very rich.

SIMS computer game or PS game etc

Barbie watch

MP3 players seem to be the must have present for my daughter at the moment (she is 11 now).
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Does she like drawing, painting, art and craft work? I used to buy arts and crafts materials for my niece and for my goddaughter. All kinds of pens and crayons, art paper, sticky stuff and sparkly stuff, glass paints, ceramic paints, beads etc etc etc. It eventually gets used some way or another.

Too bad on the books, this one was a hit with the whole family, from 8 to 88 yrs and it only cost me 8 usd plus shipping
as well as being very educational Art Fraud Detective: Spot the Difference, Solve the Crime! by Anna Nilsen sort of a wheres waldo type of book.

I liked it because the whole family learned more about some of the worlds most famous art pieces.

As for toys the "BRAT" dolls and toys are quite the thing as well, of course ask the parents, before you buy
