Russian citizen living in Canada; moving to Finland.

Hey

I'm (as clearly stated in the subject above) am a female Russian citizen and I live in Canada. Obviously I am aiming towards relocating to Finland, or I would not be in this forum.

I was just wondering...

Would it be easier moving to Suomi if I was a Russian citizen, or a Canadian citizen?

Some people tell me that it would be better to first become a Canadian citizen to move there, because.. well actually I'm not quite sure why.. maybe because the nation's considered all friendly and, well... un-Russian.

But then again, isn't Russia right beside Finland, and have they not been co-existing together for hundreds of years now? Finns used to go there to drink all the time, and vice-versa I am led to believe

I am not planning on moving there for a few years, since I have to wait until I am graduated from high-school and then some (I am currently 16). But I need to know ahead of time. I have also been studying the Finnish language for a few months now on my own. Unfortunatley I am not an expert quite yet

More background (I am not sure this is necissary.. but.. thought I would introduce myself nonetheless):

-Russian/German
-Speak Russian
-"Aryan"..maybe I would fit in with some of them Finns? haha
-Metalhead
-Two basic reasons for wanting to go to Finland: I have always been drawn to Scandinavian places (the trees, the know, the history.. the drinking

etc.) & as Hank W. put it, "a young teenage female metalhead" fascinated by the music scene, and also wanting to possibly run into members of known Finnish metal acts and party it up.
-Not retarded; AKA I realize relocating to Finland is going to be a slow and difficult process.

So, yeah. Any feedback AT ALL would be greatly appreciated.

What does the German mean here? Citizenship? If so, it should be quite easy for you to move to Finland (bureaucracy-wise).

Well, in general "moving around" with a Canadian passport is far easier than with a Russian passport. Regardless of Finland if you want to just go visit the USA - or Europe - a Russian passport means you need a visa after a visa after a visa... Like a Canadian can pop over to Finland just like that. A Russian... nyet. Say a Canadian can do one of these exchange visitor programmes in Australia... things like that...

So apart from a Canadian not having much less trouble getting a residence permit to Finland, the global aspect of visa-free travel is the obvious benefit.

Now then if you are eligible for a German passport, then that would negate your need to go through the residence permit hassles in the EU.

What I would suggest is look into student exchange options to Finland. They do them at a highschool level, but then college => furthjer education possibilities as well. of course things will change in the 3-4 years, but being here in the country and speaking the language make your ability to come and settle far better. And you can decide if Australia would still be better

On what basis can a person get one?

Like, I am part German, but was not born there. Although I do have half of my family living there, and were born there.

So I am not sure whether or not I can still get one? Is it even possible to file for one?

Are your father or mother german?
If yes, ask them for papers and go to the next german embassy, if no, you are not "part german".

My father is half German..

But even if I am... "quarter German"

most of my family live there and are German citizens.

So wouldn't that help?

yeah it would be nice to be part of it

but i hear you have to do a handstand against a wall or something and get booze poured down your throat until you spill it back out..then they slap the !"#¤% outta you ...wont be a problem though lol

but yeah i still want to live there nonetheless. hatecrew or not (but that would still be dope if i could)
