But what shall it profit a people if they satisfy all material desires, but leave for their children nothing, only a wasteland.

The Finland Ice Breakers have their own wikipedia page:
The Finland Ice Breakers are the representative Australian rules football team in Finland. They were formerly known as the Lions. It is the current holder of the Central European AFL tournament trophy, having won the tournament in September 2006. The team primarily consists of local Finns, as well as a few Australian expatriates, and some other nationalities are also represented (English, Irish).

While the team was started by Australian expatriates, it has been captained by a Finn ever since the 2nd match, and Finnish representation now exceeds 50%
Also see this site - apparently there might be a Finnish domestic comp in 07: http://www.worldfootynews.com/article.p ... 4200657267

I swear I saw a website for the Lions/Ice Breakers in the past (linked from this forum?), but I can't find it at the moment...

The manager of the Aussie football teams is a close friend, I sent PM to you with his contact details. I will check if he has some common contact details for you...

The Finnish Lions AFL are the National Australian Football (Aussie Rules) Team of Finland. We are Finnish Nationals and Foreigners... we live in and around Helsinki and beyond. For any one interested in playing Aussie Rules in Finland please email me, Izzy Barker. We have a Yahoo site up and running and hope to have a domestic league asap. Next year we will be host to the English national touring team (The Convicts), also we take part in some Swedish league matches in Finland and Sweden. Last year we won the CEAFL championships, with our trophy proudly on display in the new Aussie Bar. We will have to defend that honour next year, possibly in Austria.

We welcome people of all size and age, we don't take ourselfs so seriously. We are a great bunch of guys who just love to get away from the box for some excercise and a laugh, followed by a rehydration session here and there. We want anyone who is interested in a kick and some fun, if you have seen a ball before or not. We aim to have teams all over Finland, so don't be shy and join in the fun.
