1) How often you bathe in a sauna?
2) Alone or with other people? With who?
3) What's the perfect temperature in a sauna for you?
4) Vihta or Vasta? Which word do you prefer?
5) What you usually drink in sauna or after it? Water? Beer?
6) Your nationality & gender?

Thanks for answers in advance

1) When I feel like it. Maybe once per month, depends on the season. Mökki is the best place of course.
2) Alone, mostly. In the army I joined some random guys but I don't that anymore.
3) I think it depends on the humidity. 70-80 celsius or so is usually enough for me.
4) Neither. Vihta, if I have to choose one.
5) In sauna? Nothing. Afterwards something refreshing like water or lemonade.
6) I'm a 22-year old Finn.

Now, the topic starter should answer also.

1 about once a week
2 with other people. usually of same sex, but I do not mind if it is mixed
3 It depends a lot on the situation and on the ventilation. Warm enough to get that tingling feeling in your scalp, but not so warm that you can not sit for a while and enjoy it.
5 Water in the sauna. NOTHING with alcohol in it (I get dizzy if I try that). Alcohol afterwards is fine
6 Icelandic, female.

1) Depends. I've got a weekly turn, and one at the cottage, and then all kinds of public functions. Can be not for a month, can be daily...
2) Alone or with people, depends whose around, like if I'm at the mökki I seldom do it just for myself. As Ojanm, with 50 other guys in the army
3) Depends on the sauna. Around 80...
4) Vihta, I didn't know there was another word until I leaned that in school.
5) Beer, cold water, depends...
6) Native, feel me up if you dare.
Cheers, Hank W.

1)3-4 times a week
2)Depends. At home, with the wife and/or with the kids. At the mökki, then its with everybody there.
3)70-80. That means to raise the heat, you throw on more water and its not dry at all. So many times I've been to a sauna were it is too hot and only a little water is thrown on the stones. It makes for a dry sauna which isn't as good as a wet one.
4)Non really. Vasta in the summer when a few guests prepare them.
5)Beer or pop.
6)Canadian male with Finnish roots.

1. Once a week, unless at some cottage with sauna, then it's every day.
2. At home alone, outside with others.
3. 70-80. IMO the most common error about sauna is people who think it must be 100 degrees.
4. As a kid I used vasta, but now also vihta is ok (though instinctively vasta would the word).
5. Usually nothing - well some water.
6. Male, Finn.

Ps. Just counted I'v been to sauna about 4500 times.

Vihta/vasta =
Image
"Vasta/vihta, a strong wisp or bundle of birch twigs with the leaves left on them (only the Silver Birch, Betula pendula, is appropriate for this). It is immersed in warm water and then used to beat oneself or other people. This cleanses and exfoliates the skin and relaxes the muscles. Using a vihta also creates a pleasant, fresh birch odour to the sauna session." (wikipedia)
