Bringing gf over to live

Post by tiramisu » Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:43 pm

I have a friend who is interested in getting his gf over to live with him ... she would like to get a job here too.

He is on B visa and she intends to come in as a tourist, go to the embassy to get married and stay on. OR find a job during her visit, and if she found a job, she wont go back.

Is this possible? (Sounds quite impossible, though never know)

How about reading the rules before having the big ideas. She will have to "go back and wait" in any case of the options.

Thanks that's what I told them ... but they are still going to go ahead and take the risk.

Btw hv u heard of the fine for overstaying in Finland? Heard from a friend that if one over stayed ... during departure, the custom will find out and the fine is 35€/day or something close to it.

Yes, well, you should tell them they give 5 year ban for entry for being stupid and idiot to the EU. So they better read the rules.

i moved over here with no money and no job and no hope. i came for a visit and just decided to ask in mcdonalds if they had any jobs for non finnish speakers. now im registered as living here, working and paying taxes. legitimate. like i wanted it to be. if your friend follows the rules (and is a member of the EU) then hopefully it shud go as easy for them as it did for me. good luck to them.

EDIT- having re-read the thread and noticing the B status. it will be harder but it is still worth a try asking in fast food places. worked for me

are you a EU-citizen? I think your situation was easy if you are a EU citizen.

i am an eu citizen, thats why it was so easy for me, but if u have a job ready and waiting then it makes it alot easier for anybody, im not saying it will be easy, just easier than if you try without a job
