..where to get an adapter from new ADSL to old ADSL...

..the new ADSL/Phone plug looks more like a network plug...ie its not the three pronged telephone bit of history we all know...the the old ADSL looks like..well a small version of a network plug..

..so now I go out of the new ADSL down an patch cable into a 'old phone plug adapter'..then into the 'old phone plug to old ADSL line adapter' then down an ADSL line into the 'wireless router modem'...

..I imagine the answer going to 'huh?'...but the heck..its worth a crack

I've got a few odds and ends, adapters, cables with the different plugs at each end, etc. These are remnants from a couple of modems/routers I brought from the UK and lie unused in the store downstairs.

But my problem was, I read your post about 10 times and still can't understand exactly what you are trying to say

I think (therefore...) they sell these at verkkokauppa, type in adsl in the search bar, or physically programme your question into a member of their staff.

You confuse me by saying...
The new ADSL plus is NOT the three pronged telephone:..

The Old ADSL plug is a small version of the Network plug...

At home I plug my ADSL wlan router/modem into a spare phone socket that has the ADSL data...I use the same plug as a telephone..but the adsl cable plugs into a socket in it...
Is that old or new?

At Work I plug into a network socket using the same sort of plug that plugs into my PC .(small sqaure thingy)..not ín anyway similar or adaptable to to the telpehone three pronged thingy..But it is same as my work telephone socket which is not the 3 pronged thing.
Is that old or new?

I didn't understand Cow-Heada either (sorry!), but a simple ADSL box should look like this at the back

Left hand side is a power cable

Middle is a 8 pin Ethernet cable that goes to your PC or into your wireless router.

Right hand side is a telephone cable that goes to the wall. The standard is RJ11, this is smaller than the plug on the ethernet cable. It is only new in Finland. If you live in an older house in Finland you will need a 3 pin adaptor into which you plug the RJ11 phone cable.

Our apartment was built in 2004 so our walls have RJ11 sockets not the obsolete Finnish 3 pin.

Siniketu - RJ45 is used for telephones, it looks the same as Ethernet, but if I understand correctly, is wired quite differently...

..no wonder I've been working 10 years and still havn't really built anything...I just get rabbit in the headlight stares everytime I open my mouth..

..it comes down to the new standard for phone sockets in Finland...the old three pronged plugs are out and the new 'network looking socket' is in...

..problem is how do you get from the 'network looking socket' of the Finnish telephone system into your own modem router (which is a standard ADSL plug)..

1. network looking phone/adsl socket in switchboard (new Finnish phone socket system).
2.Network patch cable
3. adapter from patch cable to 'female' standard Finnish phone socket
4 adapter from standard 'male' Finnish phone plug to ADSL socket
5.Adsl cable
6. modem

basically I want to cut out step 3 and 4 since going from 1 straight to 6 would cut out tonnes of stuff filling up the switchboard...

..so whadyareckon

You go into Antilla you walk up to the rack of cables/adaptor that hang there..You select the cable that has Network plug on one end and ADSL plug on the other.
If in doubt drag some spotty youth away from the PC games rack and ask him to help you..
If no youth present in store.."all gone to school" there is usualy a Computor freeky on the staff.

Sorry mate, still not very clear.

You want to connect an RJ45 socket in the wall/switchboard (1) to an RJ11 socket on your ADSL modem (6)?

Am I being astronomically dense? or can't you just use a cable with these ends

...but

..they include 10ft of cable...thats bad unless it takes a load of washing as well in which case I'll run it out into the car-port....

..nice one sinikala...bottomed that one out...I'll have a hunt around based on what you gave...now its much easier to tell people what I need...

Wow So much for a RJ11-RJ45 cable..
If you are bold enough, you can borrow/buy an RJ11/RJ45 crimping tool (around 25-30 euros) and but a CAT5 cable and create whatever length you want.
Dont forget to buy the RJ11 and RJ45 heads ( All of them available in Biltema or Clas Ohlson)

Easist option ...

Instead of buying the crimping tool yourself, go to a small PC shop, and ask to speak to the little bald bloke at the back, you'll recognise him, he'll be in his late forties and probably have a beard.

Tell him what you want and let him make it with his crimping tool. If he can't make one for you, then ask him if there is anywhere that can make the lead for you.

btw. RJ11 plugs fit into RJ45 sockets (look at how they wire fixed phones at work)
