Question about moving in Finland
Question about moving in Finland
My wife is moving in Finland in April 2007. She is granted 1 year residence permit 27.10.2006 and our marriage is registered in Finland. She comes from Non-EU country. My question is: Will there be any problem on her coming here, because she will come here about half year after her permit is granted? My question is based on other threads I have read in this forum, that a residence permit may be cancelled if person hasn't spend enough time in Finland ie. not residing in Finland permanently.
I am worried that if she will be here only 6 months during the time her first residence permit is valid, there might be some problems with government officials. Perhaps I am worried for nothing? Thanks for your replies in advance.

If your wife is coming to Finland she should have do it within one month since she was granted at October 10 , 2006 she has to come before November 10 as i know or else it will be cancelled. I am married to fiinish guy as well and when they granted me my first residence permit for 1 year i have a validation of one month. I am non EU country.
I got a copy of the decision. It doesn't say anything that she must come in Finland within one month from the day it was granted. In the application we wrote, that she will come here after the end of January 2007 (after Chinese new year) and now we know it more accurate that she will come here around mid April and no later than early May.
I have to check the sections of Law it says in the decision. They are Ulkomaalaislaki 33, 34, 35, 37, 50 1 mom., 53, 60 1 mom., 62, 64, 67 1 mom., 79 2 mom., 190, 192.
I have the laws from Finlex here: http://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/ajantasa/2004/20040301. There's no mention that she should come here within one month from the permission granting date.

Well its not written in the decision paper but in my case as i recall the lady in the embassy informed me about this. I was thinking to spend Christmas and New Year 2005 but things change when i got the result from my residence permit.
Well then you have yours.... Goodluck then and nice to have info as well. No harm done...Its good to share knowledge!!!

You should try the following link. They make the decisions about residence permits. They should know for sure what you can do. Try to call or email someone there. Also get in touch with the Finnish embassy in you home country. You should be sure about this before you do it. There can be bad consequences.

Although it is best to take all precautions, I really think that you're wife wouldn't be presented with a hassle. As long as this is all done within the given time frame.
Good Luck!
