Outdoor ice hockey

Post by Aurélien » Mon Nov 20, 2006 6:49 pm

Hi everybody, Kallio's ice rink is now open. I'd like to know if some of you are interested in playing ice hockey (beginner/medium level) in the evening or in the week-end ?
It would be nice to play with international players.
Maybe we could set our future meetings on this topic. See you on the ice.

Hello

I am interested but have no hockey gear yet........ at the moment i am improving my skating but could manage a beginners game i am sure and maybe more. If anybody knows of places to get coaching that would interest me too. Here in Tuusula there seem no specific times when the indoors ice can be used for beginners games. Are there any places doing this in my area?

Thanks

Andrew

I'd love to play! Need to improve my skating a little, too and get myself some gear (just arrived three days ago), but even if I could just come and watch and meet some of you during a weekend would be awesome to see if I could try it soon. Pls reply with any information. Thanks!!!

Hi, welcome in Finland. Please find more information :

International people (mainly exchange students) play every week at Kallio
ice-rink (Helsinginkatu 23) on Fridays at 19.30-22.00 and on Sundays at 17->.

To get to the rink, jump on tram 1,3b,3t or 8 and get off at the stop called "Kaarlenkatu" or "Urheilutalo". You can also get there by buses 17,22,23,50 and 51. The metrostation "Sörnäinen" isn't very far either. For the best route check Journeyplanner at http://aikataulut.ytv.fi/reittiopas/fi/

The entrance fee is 1€ for students, 2€ for others. If you don't have your own skates you can rent them for 4€ . Bring some kind of ID if you want to rent skates.

We have around 10 extra sticks that you are free to borrow. It doesn't matter if you haven't tried ice-hockey before - you will not be the only one!

See you there

It's supposed to be friendly, so you can not to wear any protect gears. But it's better to wear stg like rollerblade pads, it depends actually how good you are.

Well i was there on sunday and there were only one main group playing ice hockey and they were some kind of works group from the university......seems no foreigns were there as i asked two of the goal keepers but i had a challenging game of Bandy? with the other group there......i was pretty useless at it.....not helped by using a tiny stick (childs?)....but i enjoyed it but i was a bit out of my league.

Were the Finland group there? I also asked at the kiosk and they did not know of such a group:-(
