Re the Finnish language, I pondered it many times in my life when I lived in England, I picked up a bit but IMO I only really started to get any sort of grip on it after moving to the Motherland :D

Which Vihanti are you moving to?

My wife is from Vihanti

If your wife is around 37-38, they know each other for sure, and many common mosquito friends.

Excellent You have a job lined up already, or you wouldn't be moving to Vihanti.... Right?

Well I came here also from Sussex..as did ButCam.
We are both from the posh part "West" Sussex

Sea Fishing....Oulu area....You probably need a boat as the water is a bit shallow....sandy ...and no piers...
But there are few places...best to check with a local from that area..There is an on line magazine for ex pats in Oulu area.

One other source of info...Closer to where you are is a web site for those in Sussex with connections to Nordic countries..
You could find an ex pat Finn in Eastborne via this link.

Edit: just did a bit of gooling and found this link to a Fishing club in Ruukki that is just up the road from Vihanti..

Ask your wife to help with the kala kieli..

I'd guess that Rautaruukin Urheilukalastajat is a fishing club of those working in Rautaruukki (marketed nowadays under the name Ruukki, a big steel factory) in Raahe. :-)
