Post by Shanaya » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:36 pm

Hello,
I have been serching Finlandforum about people who can tell me about their travels in lapland.e.g. On the Arctic Route
Who can tell me where I can have nice few weeks in Lapland.
In a cottage, not in the middel of nowhere. But still enough peace and still have all the activities available.

What area in Lapland?
Tourism in Lapland: http://www.lapland.ws/lapland/english/m ... index.html
Rovaniemi http://www.rovaniemi.fi/?deptid=17958
Kuusamo: http://www.kuusamo.fi/Resource.phx/sivu ... /index.htx
Kemi? http://www.kemi.fi/english/
Levi? http://www.levi.fi/pages/index.php?id=1&language=eng
If you search for these places, you willl end up with some tour package..which is probably a better thing than going backpacking and knocking on a Reindeer farmer's house at 3 am that you are hungry and tired..and want a place to sleep and want some food!
There are more places:
Inari, Kolari, Kittilä, Ruka, Sodankylä, Tornio, Ylläs.

Last year I went to Saariselkä, about 25 km from Ivalo. Really quiet and lots of activities, specially if you like cross-country skiing.

Don't knock on Santa's door, his elfs will kidnap you and bind you to a confidentiality agreement, and will watch you from afar for your whole life.
