S-etukortti how does the bonus card work?

Post by neneke » Tue Mar 13, 2007 3:42 pm

Hei,

I've heard about the s-etukortti and know it is a bonus/discount card. Can anyone tell me a little bit more about it, for instance is it free??

Thanks

You have to "invest" €35.

Then depending how much you spend in a month, you get a %age back.

Yes it is or at least we got it fro Free..
You go to a place where they have the service desk ( S-market, Sokos etc) and ask them for an application form. Fill it and give the choice of either receiving the bonus to your bank ( bank details) or a statement. Once you have collected enough bonus €, you can collect it from those service desks or use them towards a purchase.
You also have the option of applying for s-etukorti as a credit card.
You earn money-back with purchases that you make in the stores that support S-kortti. If you live in the Capital area: choose the länsi-uudenmann as your place. If you live close to Kirkkonummi, choose Varuboden. This area is good as in receiving your local advertisements as opposed to advertisements for S-Bonus from other places.
The card allows you to get
1) discount on some items on sale
2) earn bonus cash back if you spend a certain amount every month
3) Optionally be a credit card/Bank card(deducted from your bank directly)
4) Get discounts on Gas stations/restaurants that are in that group
The same thing goes for the Plussa kortti ( and Ykkos Bonus which is the least giving of all the bonus cards), but their systems are slightly different than S-Etukortti.

The amount to invest depends on which osuuskunta you want to be a member of. For Keskimaa OK (Central Finland) eg. it is 100€. And when one quits the system, the amount invested will be returned. Bonus-% will be awarded for purchases at any business that of the S-group (or their partners) of 50€ or more per month.

Also the 'plussa' card from the K-market is good to have, as sometimes they have stuff with quite a hefty reduction. And then the 'ykkösbonus' if your local corner store is a Siwa or valintatalo...
Cheers, Hank W.

When we got our card they asked if we wanted to pay 35€ now or put it on the account and pay it off with the bonuses that we earn.

Not really a choice, and I agree about the plussa card, that cost 8€ or so and has paid for itself 100 times over already.

Now can anyone tell me if the YkkösBonus card is worth it? (the one at valintatalo)

They are all worth it. If you buy your groceries at Valintatalo why would you choose not to get bonuses?

I mostly shop in K-citymarket. That's where I get the plussa from. S-bonus comes in mainly through elisa internet, phone and my insurance company. Just don't get distracted by the bonuses. When I was working in K-citymarket in Jyväskylä, some clients said to me they mostly shop in Prisma, because they get more bonuses there (which is true). I replied, sure they have to give more bonuses, as they are more expensive (which is, or at least was, true for this corner of Jyväskylä). Some people seem to lose the sense for reality and just go for bonuses sometimes end up paying more for a few bucks more in bonuses

About Ykkösbonus, if it is worth it or not, depends on how much you shop in Siwa or Valintatalo or Euromarket etc. Those bonuses are counted once a year, you have to buy at least for 1000€ per year to get any bonus at all. :? I got some when we used to shop the closest Siwa, but after moving to place where K-Supermarket was the closest, I haven't got any Ykkösbonus bonuses for three years now. Of course it is handy, if there is some special offer for the card holders.

Usually the S-marts (Prisma etc.) are considered giving you more bang for the buck than K's, which are more expensive (in my opinion, Anttila is usually horribly expensive, unlike you might think).

You can compare different shops in Kauppakori (only in Finnish though..) At least in Oulu Lidl's are number one, followed by all Prisma shops.

S-card don't give you no silly coupons, that will expire, as you get with Plussa, but real money. S is considered to be a bit more practical than the other cards. The S-card is more like a long term solution, but if you wish to quit, they'll give you the money you paid for it back to you. All the cards give you the random discounts, though.

Yes.. I do have them all.. But I don't usually bother to use then, unless the re's a direct benefit.

You can have the plussa award payed on your bank account. It says so in the small print. Nonetheless, the plussa system still sucks compared to the s-etusystem in mayn other aspects. Eg. only points earned in a K-ruokakauppa (ie K-citymarket, K-supermarket etc.) are cumulated progressively. So when I see a printer in Musta Pörssi and the same one in K-citymarket for the same price, where would I buy it? The points given at K-citymarket are worth more.

And there are quite a few people saving the coupons through the whole year and use them for their christmas shoppings. Then look at the expression on the face of the checkout chick who is tearing some 20 plussa-coupons off the paper and scanning each one separately (rip - *beep* - rip - *beep* - rip - *beep* - rip - *beep* - rip - *beep*...) while the queue is growing to infinity. Those where the highlights in my career as a cashier at K-citymarket... (not).

umm.... mustapörssi is in the K-group... you'll get the same plussa points there as well!!

If you see the printer on sale in Gigantti/Tekniset etc, and same printer sold at thesame price in K-group shops, then choose K-group shop if you want the points....
Finland, my country!

Happy to chat with u in messenger..

We have Ykkösbonus, the account statement came in the post yesterday... we don't use any of Siwa or Valintatalo or Euromarket etc and still have racked up €5000 in the last 10 months. Last year we got €50 back, this year we will get €125. Our spends come mostly from our local A24 petrol station, If Insurance and Sotka furniture store.

Oh, and we get back from €10-20 per month on S-card.

Would be much easier if there were only 2 instead of 3 loyalty cards, then we would really focus on using 1 reward scheme and really racking up the points, with it being so diluted, although we have the cards, we are not actually loyal to any one scheme.
