I am taking the boys to the Finnish Railway Museum tomorrow. We have to travel on the R or H train to Hyvinkää railway station. Do I need to purchase a ticket for this train ride or is it a "free ride with stroller?"

I think you'll find it's a ticket ride, if it's not, my daughter will get squeezed into a pram one weekend. Oh and make sure you catch the fast one, the slow one's a nightmare.

But is it free to Hyvinkää? I know it is free in the capital area, but Hyvinkää is not capital area.

It's only free till Kirkkonummi and Kerava with pram. You can already save by buying tickets only after that...

In order to do this, you have to get off the train and get on the next
one or it's illegal and you can get fined for it.

no-no, they charge me every time to/from Kirkkommi with pram.

Kirkkonummi From Jan. 2007 is now part of the Helsingin Seuttu..
meaning that it is a "Local" connection if you come by train..

Hmm....If you're talking about the train, they will not charge you if you don't buy. If you offer to buy a ticket, they will sell, no questions asked. Just sit and relax and enjoy the ride!
It's free with pram Knummi-HKI-Knummi.

If "tarkastajat" comes after Knummi and you have a valid ticket for the trip from Knummi onwards, they will not stand and argue with you. If they come to check before Knummi and you sit there with the pram. They will not say anything either.
But of course you're right, in theory it's illegal and you can get fined for it.
