Car Wash

Post by bahlankur » Tue Mar 27, 2007 1:43 pm

Guys

I washed my car at Neste on Sunday ( bought the best optin they had) and when I came out, I saw that there were some scratches on my car and some marks left from the brush!!

It is a brand new car and hence needless to say that I am sad :(

Has anyone experienced this before? Any point going back to the wash company and complaining? POssible remedies?

Thanks

Milling with color wax...

...and brush wash is a no-no with a new car. But now if you look on the bright side you don't need to mind scratches any more 8)

Reminds me I might need to get the car washed...

You are right! The first one is painful and then one gets used to it!

BTW could you tell me a store or website for buying wax in finland? How much would the wax cost?

You go to Motonet, thats a wax-o-rama. But for milling you need to go for some professionals.

Try and use the car washes that have "harjuton" washes meaning your car is washed with water presure and not brushes. Your car wil not be as clean as with a wash that uses the rotating brushes but it will also not have scratches.
If you want to save money look around for a car wash that you can wash the car yourself. The Teboil at Kerava has this option and I wash and wax my car for 1,50-3 euros depending on how dirty it is.

Good tip, I have seen some near Iso Omea and will enquire more.

Just for your update:

I visited the gas station yesterday and it seems that they will pay for good manual waxing which should fix the problem (no deep scratches). I will be visiting the insurance company for inspection and will keep you guys posted.

The Shell in Lauttasaari has rubber brushes/fingers which do the cleaning. They don't scratch. I never had any problems with that one. And the car washes are half price after 9pm

Then there is some antique car wash also in Lauttasaari which is behind/under the kauppakeskus. That does have brushes and it is very old. And it costs the same as a modern car wash. I recommend steering clear of that one (no pun intended).

Hello,

I'm looking to wash a car for the first time in Finland. I saw in this post that there are self-service car wash locations may I know if there is any of those near Malminkartano? Also, I know it might sound silly but do I have to bring anything there besides my car and money? Please enlighten me thanks! I wish to wash and wax...I want to try learning and doing it myself but if I do a bad job will probably go to those nearby specialty car washes...

Cheers and goodday!
