I along with my husban and son came to finland two months ago. Me and my husband both are studying. I want to know about the child healthcare system in Finland, i.e. does it cost too much to visit a doctor.

Well, the regular health centres are quite reasonably priced, a visit would be something like 25e (I am bit hazy about the system, but it really doesn't cost more than that) - that is if you are covered by the national health insurance. Some schools, especially universities have their own cover, but the conditions vary. I'm sure there are people here who know the details as regards foreign students.

First thing first is to find out if your child qualifies for KELA benefits and then getting a Kela Number or ID number for your child. Then it is registered in the national registry. After which the healthcare is free..
Unless of course, if you dontqualify for Kela Heal benefits for some reason ( tax free studies or handouts etc etc) then you need to get health insurance from some provider like IF, Tapiola, Pohjola, Sampo etc Or your own provider to cover health.
