So the playoffs got off to a great start yesterday.

Ducks over Wild 2-1. Selanne scored for the Ducks, Backstrom played great for the Wild, winning goal was crap; Backstrom had puck under him, refs did not blow the whistle and after 4-5 whacks on the goalie the puck came loose & went in. Backstrom was pissed, but in an interview later when asked about the goal, he said "I won't swear on TV".

Canucks over Stars 5-4, in 4 OT!
Sharks over Predators 5-4 in 2 OT.
Senators over Penguins 6-3. (Go Canada!)

Just got back into civilization. Go Senators!!!
In the seventies I had a friend who played pro goalie in Senior A in Ontario. Something like in Slapshot but a tier lower. I asked him if the movie Slapshot was realistic. He replied, "No way! Real hockey is much worse!"

At the beginning of the year I read an article that said that the Stars favour having Finns on their team because of their noted work ethic. Too bad they are playing against my hometown Canucks, so I can't cheer for them.

Mattlill2000, unfortunately the Maple Laughs have been rebuilding for the past 30 years and will continue to rebuild for another 30, you should really start consider becoming a fan of the other Ontario team the Senators.

I can't. Been a Leaf fan for 46 years now. From the glory in the '60s to the crap afterwards. Painful. Best way to explain it, is that its like a family. Lets hope the Senators bring some respect back to Ontario!

Well, my Wild are in big trouble, down to the Ducks 3-0 in the series. They have lost all the games by one goal (2-1, 3-2, 2-1). The difference between the two teams is that Minnesota's power play has disappeared; in the series they are 0-14 with the man advantage, plus they gave up a shorthanded goal in game 2.

Re: the Canadian teams, the Canucks and the Senators are playing well, but what is going on with the Flames? They are down 2-0 to the Red Menace/ Swedish Olympic team, but not only that, they were outshot 51-13 in the last game?? The ice surface must have been lower at their end. :?

Aside from rooting for the Wild, I am also pulling for anybody playing against the Red Wings, Rangers, and Islanders.

AHAH!! The Wild are on life support, but they lived to play another day, pounding the Ducks 4-1 last night. So with the series at 3-1 they return to Anaheim for game 5 Thursday night on that mushy "Duck ice" (belongs in a slurpie or a margarita rather than trying to skate on it :x ).

The Canucks won!!!!!! The first 2.5 periods were a little boring but the last half of the 3rd was great - Canucks scored, then 3 minutes later Dallas then Canucks.

The best was when Dallas shot at the net and Brenden Morrison managed to stop the puck on the goal line - it almost went in.

But we are now leading 3 -1 in the series!!

Vancouver's win

Post by sisu power » Fri Apr 20, 2007 4:14 am

I believe it was Willie Mitchell, not Morrison, who defended the goal line. In any case, it's hard to believe that we could close the series tonight. We haven't had a single win that couldn't as easily have gone to Dallas, and yet we're up 3-1 in the series. Ah well, best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Go Canucks Go!

Ottawa looked very good. Calgary has really turned that series around with two wins at home vs. the Red Wings. Edmonton had their chances to put the Stars away, but they are still up 3-2 in the series. I dare say that San Jose will end the Predators season in their next game, and I expect that Buffalo will win also.

Alas, the Wild's season is over. The incident at the end of Tuesday's game has left a very bad taste in the mouths of MN fans. 2:00 left in the game and MN ahead 4-1, a 4th line winger for the Ducks took out the Wild's top defenseman with a sucker-punch to the back of his head from behind. The MN player spent the night in the hospital with a concussion, and would have missed the rest of the playoffs. The Anaheim attacker got a three game suspension, but BFD!! That is like trading a pawn for a rook in chess. Dirty move by Anaheim.
