Firearm permits?

Anyone know the procedure on getting a rifle in Finland? I was jogging the other day and found the local firing range by accident, wouldn't mind getting a cheapish rifle and working on my shot

Usually the english section on the poliisi.fi section is pretty rubbish, so I assumed it would be crappy in this situation also!


Anyone on this site got a firearm in Finland? Is it a long process? Do I need to join a club? I'm sure a lot of this info is already online, but I'm after personal experiences here please

I'm in the process of getting one. Haven't started it yet thou. I'm getting a permit for grand dad's hand gun which was passed to me when he passed away. Hand gun permits are kinda hard to get, but in this case it shouldn't be a big issue, since it's a kinda museum piece.

Usually it helps if you're a member of a gun club or a hunting club. However if you have a criminal record, you won't get a permit.
