Cheap Cheerful Shockproof Camera
Cheap Cheerful Shockproof Camera
I'd like to buy one for my daughter, but don't want to pay too much just in case it breaks. I was thinking of something very basic though. Any thoughts anyone?

This is what most of the people I know get their kids:

I don't know what age your daughter is, so this might not apply...
We got our daughter a kid's digital camera when she was almost 3, and she has now been using it for a year. Our camera (not the Fisher Price camera that Xochi put a link for, which seems to have really good handles to keep the fingers away from the lense
) is reeeeaaallly slow, which means that our daughter usually manages to move before the camera takes the picture, and has generally bad picture quality. It is ok outside, but inside it really needs the flash, that takes ages to load. LCD panel or view finder is a matter of taste, but we wanted an LCD panel, and although the camera has one it isn't really good (but ok enough to be used). Ours isn't shock-proof, but it has taken well the few bangs it has gotten, although our daughter has been really careful in taking care of it anyway.
Anyhow, what I would now look into is an used adult's camera. Just a simple, small point&shoot. Even if it is just a camera for a kid, it would still be nice to have some pictures that are good enough to put in an album. And at least a year ago, when I tried to find kid's cameras with at least decent picture quality & speed, I couldn't find any (... which of course doesn't mean that they aren't any).
