Anyone into horses?
Anyone into horses?
Hi folks,
I haven't moved to Finland yet, but I hope to soon. I will be near Ekenas/Tammisaari, and was wondering if anyone here was into horses? Particularly eventing or dressage...
cheers,
Sarahh

Hi
Personally my thoughts on horse go as far "that end kicks me and that end bites me" but my gf is nuts about them, she sometimes enters competitions, mainly dressage and jumping.
As far as I can tell the sport seems to be pretty popular here with prety regualr competitions in the summer. I went with her to the national amatuer championships last summer and it was pretty crowded, so lots of people to play dress up and to help you braid the horse hair

Oh, God, God, God! What on earth was I drinking last night? My head feels like there's a Frenchman living in it.

Hi craiced,
Thanks for the reply to my post! Do you think your gf would be willing to email with me about the horsey life in Finland? I'd really like to find some contacts in Finland who can let me in on the local scene before I move there in a few years. I usually spend a month or 6 weeks there in the summer, and would really like to go to some shows, if possible.
cheers,
Sarahh

RATSASTUSKOULUT JA TALLIT
My suggestion is to look for a "talli/stable" in your area and just go in and talk horse talk.
e.g for Vihti ..TeMa

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.
I'm into Authorized at Epsom for a tenner at 10/1 (from March, way before the Dante Stakes romp), but I don't suppose this counts, even if I am laughing that he's now at evens. I've also got Salford Mill at quite serious odds each-way, and Mahler at 50s, and even - because I liked the names - Satu and Satulagi as rank each-way outsiders in the Irish Guineas this weekend.
Satu has a nice name: by Marju out of Magic Touch, who was in turn sired by Fairy King. Useless animal, but sometimes these silly bets on Finnish names come up.
Not sure WHY they named Satulagi like that; there's nothing in her breeding to suggest it, but since "satula" is a saddle it seemed like a decent enough omen for a euro or two at 150/1. Besides, she ran better in the 1,000 Guineas than her position (or price) would suggest.
This doesn't help much, does it?

Hi Tema!
Glad you saw that old post of mine! I will definitely be looking for stables and people to visit this summer when I'm in Finland. Unfortunately, I don't read Finnish (and my Swedish is pretty crummy too), so the websites that sinikettu included didn't help much!
Tell me about your horse and pony! You can PM me if you want
cheers,
Sarah

Tammisaari ( From Kirkkonummi to Tammisaari the whole area is know for horse stables) is famous for horse stables and there are many stables around here..
The easiest thing for you is to contact someone who can translate or contact the horse riding schools.

could help if you know Finnish.
