If that sort of thing is what you’re looking for, Xochiquetzal’s suggestion about Puuhamaa could be just the ticket.

Actually, as my husband just said, all we need is just the pirate ship, & nothing else!!!!!! I just asked him to build one in the garden so you can imagine his reply! Thanks for the advice though, puuhama does sound good, if I can bear the travel with the tots. the furthest I have travelled with all 3, ON MY OWN, is about 10km with one on a bike seat & 2 in the biketrailer!
but that pirate ship is just AWESOME :D

They have a pirate ship pretty much like that on the playground in Pori on Kirjurinluoto (plus lots of other stuff). It's free and open all year round (except during Pori Jazz when it's closed off as part of the festival area).

Yeah. Puuhamma has an area that is 10 times bigger and better than the pirate ship. And that is just one of many parts of the park.

"Puuhamaa on paras paikka, Puuhamaa on iloinen.
Puuhamaassa vietät vaikka koko päivän kesäisen."

They had a catchy TV-commercial 20 years ago, I still remember the song. And because of that commercial I commited a big sin as a parent: I promised that the kids get to go to Puuhamaa, and then I never took them. They went to Linnanmäki and Särkänniemi and the one in Kouvola, but never Puuhamaa. And they never forgot, and still sometimes mention my betrayal. Last time that happened I threatened that they have to come with me NOW, so that they get it out of their chest.

That ad is on YouTube (just like everything these days, it seems.)

Hihhi :) My kids have been torturing me with that song and the one for
Tykkimäki for some time now since they want to go. Sometimes I wake
up in the morning to them sitting on top of me singing that song
Urchins :)

I forget the name of the Finnish TV show - it's the one that's set up a lot like Politically Incorrect and they rib on the latest issues (mostly political). They had one segment where they asked what someone would do if they won a million dollars. One of the celebrities said he would buy Puuhamaa just so he could take that stupid commercial off the air.

The sad thing is that from that commerdcial I thought it was a pathetic joke of a park and never had interest in going until my sister in law dragged me there. And wow was I impressed. My 3 year old had so much fun there and there was so much for everyone to do. It was one of the highlights of last Summer for us.
