Good information, as it seems bringing a van to Finland and taking it back full is far cheaper.
On further enquiries about the 20ft Container, the normal container companies refuse to carry house hold goods and refere you to 2 Finnish Household removers. When I checked back with the original quoter (wont name them but they are popular) their €2133 quotation gets amended as follows.
€2135 for 20 Cubic Meters (NOT the whole container of 35 Cu Mts) to Hull.
PLUS
22% ALV €450
€600 Imatra to Helsinki
22% €130
AND NOW THE STING.
Anything over 20 cu mts is 20€ cu mt (even though container is only half full)
If prepacked in Boxes here they will not insure contents, unless they pack it themselves.
Upon arrival we cannot unload container within port authority area so MUST have it taken off site to unload.
Port receiving charges are not included
Removal from Site Not included
Port unloading charges Not included
Port taxes not included
UK vat not included
The only recommended (by Them) way is this
They come pack our goods and take to Helsinki
They load into a container
They ship to UK
They deliver container to a UK address OR
They unload container and reload into removal waggon
They return container same day to Port.
Original quote 2135 Euro
Actual Price ???
Just under €5000 plus any unexpected UK charges.
Man with a big van coming to Finland end of August or early September. Long drive, but bloody 5 star hotels, 1st class accommodation on board, champagne and caviar is still far far cheaper.

I do not need to know you will attend my Funeral. I would rather you call just to say Hi !!
