How much money can I get after I give a birth in Jan 2008

Post by Happier » Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:15 am

Hello,

I hope to know how much money can I get per month after I give a birth next January.

I have KELA card and a permanent job in Finland. I started my new job last December. My expected birth will be next January 2008. Is the money associated with the period the employees work in the company?

Thanks

This is about right but not 100% if you have a nice company they will pay you full wage for the first three months after the baby comes and then Kela pay the other 6 months Kela will pay you 70% of your wage, but if they are not nice then Kela will pay you around 70% of your wage for the first 9 months. After the 9 months if you still wish to stay at home with the baby then you get Kela money which is worked out on where you live, I think mothers in Helsinki get more then mothers in Espoo.

When the baby then turns two years of age the money goes down again to around just over 500€ a month before tax.

Remember you can stay home for three years and they have to keep your job for you the whole time.

These sums are about right

Good luck

You need to have enough working weeks with the company which kela defined on their website. Normally the company would pay you 100% for the first 3 months, then kela pays 70% for another 7 months, after that, it is all depends on your family income. If you are below average income, you might get around 400e. If not much less. I got only around 250e minus tax after 10 months being home. But if your kid is not going to kindergarten, you can apply home care allowance which is about 228e minus tax. So totally it is about 450e a month. Plus you get child allowance 100e/month till she/he is 18 years old.

oh dear, am I mssing out? I get 340eur a month for the kids till they turn 18 then. I then get 380euro after tax to live in A MONTH, that´s it. Not much to clothe & feed 3 under 5 is it, not to mention house bills? FinnHubby is uni lecturer of 20 yrs exp, with income less than a UK nurse! Doesn´t seem fair, does it?
