Since you don´t get unemployment benefits and don´t expect to find a job I don´t see why not.Can I just stop going there???

Julichka, I think you shouldn't rely on getting the unemployment benefit ASAP 'coz look at me. I married a Finn but still no unemployment benefit even though I registered myself to the employment office a few days after I moved here. I have no job 'coz I can't speak Finnish. I've just begun learning Finnish by myself 3 months ago, so my Finnish knowledge is still so bad. So it's better to save up lots of money before you move to Finland JUST IN CASE.

Yes? so you register at the employment office when you receive your residence permit and social security number, they will give an appointment to go back to discuss your job seekers plan, you sign this and they will send you a copy, the plan is for 3 years, integration plan, to give you a chance to settle here, learn the language etc, they will also explain to you also about Kela benefits but the amount will depend on your husbands income!
If you live in Helsinki you should go to the Haapaniemi office, it's for immigrants. If you are given a course from the employment office, language etc, you will receive a daily allowance of 7euro so 140euro per month for all the time that attend the course!
If you are not in Finland it is better that you get married in your country, then legalize the marriage certificate etc, then apply for an entry visa ( Shengen visa ) to enter Finland, they have to issue this visa free of charge and as soon as possible they only need to see your passport and legalized marriage certificate, this is EU law, and your future husband is an finnish and EU citizen yes?Also your husband will need a certificate of no impediment issued in Finland, also you may have to register your marriage at the registery office in Helsinki before they issue your entry visa, and then of course you can apply for your residence permit when you arrive in Finland, that's the law!

you're missing the point here. The idea of a society is that the citizens pay for their own way and tax so that IF someone needs TEMPORARY aid, they would be covered for a limited period of time.cockney wrote:Here we go again!

Anyway any benifits received here are just enough to survive on, you have to spend it, food, travel, clothes etc etc! so it all goes back into the finnish system yes!
The idea is not to have others work so that some people can live off them...

Yes, if you are both unemployed you have no income, so you will get help from Kela, but you must register first as a jobseeker at the employment office! Your husband can get a student grant?
Also make an appointment with your local social worker, they can help with money, rent etc if you have nothing and are desperate!

So what about the people that can't work, disabled etc? The idea of society is to help those in need, otherwise we wouldn't need Kela and the social office all their staff would be out of a job!
