Hi there!
We'll be in Helsinki from Aug 17-20 and it would be great to meet up if anyone's free on those dates. We'll be staying in a hotel downtown during that time.
I plan to do lots of shopping

especially to stock up on winter gear for D (17 mths old). I've forgotten if the stores already bring in warmer clothes by then?
Hope to see some of you when we're in Helsinki!
Visiting Finland in August!

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for getting in touch with me! I'm sure looking forward to catching up with you girls when I'm back in Helsinki! We'll be arriving on Friday at some ungodly hour (1am) and leaving on Monday around 2pm. I've retained my Finnish mobile number so I can be reached at that number when I'm there.
Hmmm...anyone of you keen for a nightout??!

That's one possibility or then we could always meet for lunch.
BTW, thanks to those of you who have emailed me - so sorry I haven't written to tell about our new place since I got here but the gist of it is that...we really love it here!!!

Will tell you more later or if I get my act together then you'll be getting an email report of my first month here one of these days

Hi,
Would there be some of you free the weekend Sharon is back in town so that we could organize either a lunch or dinner? I actually quite fancy a good curry ... and there is a place at Esplanad that does for example both a nice vegetarian and meat thali!

Hi Sharon/everyone,
I just got back from holiday at the weekend. I'd love to meet up and a curry sounds great, I can do Saturday lunch (with Caitlin) or evening on my own.
Look forward to seeing you all again

Dinner is good for me, shall we go to the curry place that Marianne suggested on Esplanadi, say 6:30 or 7:00?

Hi,
if it is fine with you I could book a table for us for 7 pm? There are of course lots of nice restaurants around but I personally always miss having a curry. The other options that came to my mind are either Torni or ... Juuri, which has something called "sapas" (=Finnish tapas). The food there is really good.
But upto all of you ... and if you have other recommendations then please let me know!

Oooh... they all sound like great places to eat out!! I'm fine with any restaurant that you choose. BTW what's the name of the Curry place in Esplanade? Is it Samrat you're talking about? That's a nice place which I haven't been to in recent years.

Samrat is the one Shazzer and if you like chai then they do a nice one!
I shall book a table for 7 pm. If this time does not suit someone at all then please let me know and we can figure out another time. But we could start at this time and if there are those who cannot make it until later then I am sure it will take a while to hear Shazzer's news so I doubt that at least I would leave that early
Samrat has a Web-site (
http://www.samrat.fi) with an english menu so you can have a look beforehand. Just let me know if you want to come - I will count in the ones here who have already been interested in joining.
Now lets hope they still have tables as there is some celebration week starting in Helsinki on Friday!

Urgent help needed!
Am in the middle of packing and I've forgotten how's the weather usually like in Finland at this time of year. Is it shorts and tees or should I be packing fleece jackets and pants for the little one? What's the weather forecast for the coming week? This would really help in packing essentials and travelling light. Thanks!!
