Hello! An update on us!

Post by scoobymcdoo » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:55 pm

Hi Everyone,
It has been a month since we left Finland so I thought I'd give you an update.

Our furniture arrived (as we expected) later than the date planned. Our house that we'd rented out for the past 2 years was in a disgusting state so we spent time repainting whilst waiting for the rest of the house to arrive.

Life in the UK was hard to adjust to at first. We found the traffic, the weather, the amount of people, the noise, the materialistic lifestyle very hard to adjust to. We miss the forest, the seaside, the lack of queues in the shops, the open roads, our friends etc, but we feel and know we have made the right move coming back. The 3 hours it took me to drive the 40km last Friday night is an experience I wish to forget (blame the flooding). We are enjoying the local pub, the range of choice in any shop, the English bookshops, the family and friends etc.

Sophie has had a huge language explosion, her English has improved so much and she has this new found confidence around people, she is becoming more social (non-Finnish)! We have joined the library, been to toddler groups, been swimming etc.

We now have a new kitten after losing Mog and re-homing Rosie. He is a very hansdome posh cat who has been named Tiger by Sophie. He is a Bengal so has a tiger face and a spotty leopard body.

We've been told that Sophie's name should have been down for pre-school when she turned 2! We aren't sure what we are going to do about school for her yet.

John hasn't found work yet, though has been contracting for the Finnish company he used to work with.
So that is our news, let me know how you all are.

It's great to hear from you. I've been thinking about contacting you with an update, too. Things are going well here and everyone is getting along. Rosie used to hide under my bed, but now ventures upstairs and even outside. There are still a few spit matches when she meets Mulder on the stairs, but I've seen them sleeping on my bed at the same time and Jouni claims to have caught them snuggling. She is extremely affection and can't seem to get enough attention. We love having her and she doesn't seem to mind us.

I haven't been following any of this, but what made you up and leave Finland? Just curious...

Karen...so glad to hear that Rosie is settling in well, she always loved to be stroked and sleep on our bed. She was a very sweet, affectionate cat. Sophie misses her and Mog a lot but she now has Tiger to keep her occupied.

Paula- will send you a pm with my email address. Hope you are both ok.

Hi to all M and M-ers...everything is shut here still for the summer so I am missing the Tuesday and Thursday social interaction.
