Serbia - Finland

Post by molon_lave » Tue Sep 04, 2007 7:34 am

I opened up a match thread for the upcoming game vs. Serbia this Saturday September 8. We can hope for Finland to get a good result, it can either be a draw or a win. My favorite Finn Mika Vayrynen is playing in this game. 8)

No. The Finnish FA got greedy, I guess. It's on Canal+.

Bog Bless the Free Market, and curse the statists who will - in the unlikely event that Finland DO qualify for Euro 2008 - ensure that the European Championships, along with the World Cup, the Summer and Winter Olympics, the Oulu Air Guitar Championships, the Takahikiö Nose-Picking Champions League, and various other bits and pieces, are so much at the nub of Finnish consciousness and Suomalaisuus that they must by law be accessible to all, and not to them's what's paid a Canal+ subscription.

Oh, and that line-up looks a bit odd: I've never seen Sami playing at right-back before. Do you think he's going to be given an attacking role a bit like Roberto Carlos? :P

Besides which, Väyrynen isn't playing.

Well done to Finland, earned themselves a 0-0 draw from Serbia. Finland remains in second place after Poland picked up a draw from Portugal.

Poland 20 pts 10 g
Finland 18 pts 10 g
Portugal 16 pts 9 g
Serbia 15 pts 9 g

What did I say? I never said anything derogative. All I said was it sucks to see Mika Vayrynen not playing vs. Serbia. I hope he does play vs. Poland.

It's not so much what you said as what you're saying I said. But if it needs so much explanation, I'm not sure I can be bothered.

I'm interested to know your connection to Finland? A Greek flag in Houston isn't de-stoning my olives. Care to enlighten?

Gladly, I'm not Finnish, I'm a Greek-American residing in Houston, Texas. Of course the Greek flag is my national flag. About Finland, well I want to show support in there quest for qualification to Euro 2008. Finland is a great country full of great people. I have a Finnish employee from my workplace, he's a diehard Suomi fan. I'm pulling for his team all the way.

HYVA SUOMI! ! !
