I heard he'd missed one, but two! I've been winding Salopian up that he never scores and he keeps telling me how much he contributes in other ways. Mmmm, i'd rather he scored more often if he was in my team.

Haven't been on here today ... was waching it over the web on Polsat (Polish Canal plus) and it was delayed kickoff due to a ticketing balls-up... never got to sleep until after 01:00.

We played a strange formation & stuck to it even when they were reduced to 10 then 9 men.

Johnson put the first pen away for what should have been 2-0, then the ref wanted it retaken for people encroaching in the area... Johnson's second effort was weak, stayed at 1-0.

They got a scrambled goal back to pull it level 1-1... we got another pen... which Baines was shaping to take until Captain Marvel (Neville) took the ball off him and gave it to Johnson who row-z-ed it straight over the middle of the crossbar.

Johnson is low on confidence ATM, but most of the problems stem from us not creating clear cut chances. That said, chances don't come much more clearcut than penalties, of which he had 2 - there were 3 kicks and he only put 1 /3 away... unfortunately, that was the one that didn't count.

Hopefully we'll have Arteta and Grav back for the second leg.

All in all.. to summarise in one word...

Arsebiscuits.

Salopian scores plenty when he plays, thanks. As for AJ...I blame our captain, a player who should be either rightback or leftback in the changing room (not in midfield unless Carsley/Jags can't walk), for picking up the ball and giving the second (third...) penalty to a player with less confidence than a spotty teenager...but yes - his third effort made Waddle's 1990 effort look like a controlled near-miss...

Aside from spot-problems of many kinds, there's no-one to link midfield and attack - never would've thunk it again, but we need Mad Dog and Arteta was sorely missed too.

(ah, I see Sinikala thinks the same way (launched into reply after reading Magic's post...))

All in all...(agent) Neville's a dopey swine.

Fair point well made.

Maybe AJ's (funny coincidence Mr. Jones!) struggling to get over the shock departure of the Goodison legend Mr. James Beattie.
We've got target practice on saturday at 3pm, maybe AJ could learn something by watching us score a hatful; who needs Titi?
