Over sleep

Post by mycp2005 » Tue Sep 25, 2007 2:20 pm

Hi,

I am in 18 weeks of pregnancy and the first trimester was troublesome with nausea. Now that nausea has gone, my problem is over sleep.

I sleep for over 12 hours and I am not able to wake up before that. If i somehow wake up earlier, I feel tired and sleepy throughout the day.

Though there is no strenous work in my daily routine, my office is nearby my place.
Nurse says haemoglobin level is little lower, so tiredness is due to that.there is no cause of worry.

However, I feel irritated as daily routine does get affected and I dont feel good myself when I wake up late and feel tired all the time.

Ladies, do let me know your suggestions/experiences to manage this situation.

What were your iron levels? Its under B-hb on the card.

I was very very tired, turned out I was anemic. I started at 128 and went down to 110, one iron tablet a day has made a huge difference. If you want to get some they are sold in the chemist (no prescription needed) Obsidan fe++ 100mg.

It also normal to be more tired during pregnancy so if possible get a little nap in during the day or early evening. Make sure you eat good energy foods too.

Im tired again though not as much, but now its more due to going to the loo several times a night and finding it harder to get comfy in bed.

Hi,

My iron levels started itself at 119 and now its at 112.
I shall try taking the supplements and see any progress.

During the first trimester, I dropped 3 kgs and later have gained 750 gms. I asked the nurse if this is a cause of concern. She says that ok, and says I will put on weight :)

I am normal during some times of the day, but not always. Yes I understand energy levels would not be same as before being pregnant.
But basically, I am trying to know something how people cope up with this.

Other than waking up in the morning hours, during bed time, when I lie down, it takes atleast 30-40 mins for me to be normal. I feel a pain in back, also recently for the past 2 weeks I feel a movement in stomach which the nurse neuvola said its the contractions which is quite normal.

But other than that I do feel tired and lost.
We recently bought the recliner sofa thinking it might help in reducing the back ache.

Your nurse should have told you to take some iron with those levels, they are a little low. The tablets do take a little while to help but after a week or so you will feel some difference. I just take one 100mg tablet in the morning.

I just checked my card I was 19+1 when my level went to 111 and its up to 118 now which is much better.

Dont worry about the weight. Your baby will take everything he needs first, just try and get enough calcium as it goes from your bones.

Im on week 33 tomorrow and have put on 5kg overall so everyone is different. As long as you eat healthy and dont go hungry you and baby will be fine :D

It's been a long time, but I remember that my iron was low. Every time the nurse checked it, it was lower. She never once recommended a supplement until it was below the acceptable level. I was tired during my whole pregnancy and would have appreciated the energy boost I got once I started taking the supplement. I highly recommend iron supplements!
