The largest ever Rugby event staged in Finland will take place on Saturday, September 29th in Myllypuro, Helsinki. The event is called the Baltic Plate and will be a 10-a-side rugby tournament. 16 mens and 8 womens teams are registered to participate on the day. Most teams from the Finnish national rugby championship will be competing along with plenty of international interest too with teams attending from the UK, Sweden, Moldova and Estonia.
Please come and join the festival of rugby. The rugby world cup is currently underway in France so why not come down on Saturday and see what the game is really all about. There will be food and drink, entertainment for all, including a bouncy castle for the kids.
Come and support the Finnish teams, enjoy the wonderful game, and help put Finland on the rugby map.
Cheers!
Rugby in Helsinki this weekend
I really should mention here that this message is not just intended for the rugby fans, but everyone! If you have seen rugby on TV and wondered what the heck was going on, if you have never heard of the game before, if you simply enjoy a new experience, then come along. The atmosphere is very relaxed (except on the field of course!) and we welcome newcomers warmly.
As we very much encourage youngsters getting involved in the game, we will have plenty for them to do and see. There is already a game for kids (starting at 10:00) on the agenda on a reduced pitch, but there will be opportunity for all children to throw a ball around and get an idea of Rugby. For the newcomers to the sport there will be some running commentaries and people to answer any question you may have regarding what is happening out in the middle. It really is intended to be an enjoyable, relaxed, and educational social event for all the spectators.
In 10-a-side rugby, each game only lasts 20 minutes in total. There will be many games throughout the day. First game kick off is 09:00 and the grand final is scheduled to begin at 17:30. Please feel free to join us at any time during the day, we'd love to see you!
