Looking for a big real baby shop around Helsinki and Vantaa

Post by fannette » Mon Sep 24, 2007 11:00 pm

Hello everybody. I'm due in december, and i didn't find yet a "real big" shop for baby things. There is Stockman of course, some small shops on the 3rd floor of Kampi and other such small shops in the city, but isn't there a big enormous shop where you can find everything, from the pram to the plastic bath tube, furnitures, decoration items, etc?
That's the country of the babies, i'm sure i'm missing something here  . Let me know.

thanks!

There a Lastentarvike off of Vihdentie near Kehä III in Varisto and
a Lastenturva nearby on the road that goes between Varisto and Petikko (over Kehä III).

I didn't know that was there. I'll have to go check it out. Thanks, Richard.

Actually this place is really good and will spend all the time in the world helping you out, fitting things in your car etc.

We have bought the cot, changing table and car seat from there. They also knocked a bit off at the till which the big shops wont do

Hmm BabiesRUS or other shops havent made it here yet...
The cost of maintaining a big rentals/ownership of buildings wlong with taxes prohibit things like those..
The closest big mall that you can find everything could be Jumbo.
As others pointed out, Lastentarvike has most comprehensive collection of the things that you might want..
But the prices are high so its always better to check out all the other shops (Not many here so its an easy job) or just buy from Germany/UK websites..

That's the country of the babies, i'm sure i'm missing something here  . Let me know.
The reality of Finland..

I know quite a few people who have ordered their prams and strollers from Ping Pong in Germany. Even with shipping, it's cheaper than buying here.
