Well, it amazes me that there isn't one around these forums. Well, remembering how many of my finnish contacts actually see football as an enjoyable and superior sport to hockey I could consider reforming that first line. Alright, football doesn't runs through the veins of finns as easily as other sports, namely winter sports BUT it's a sport that is clear climbing up some good degrees in the popularity ladder.
So for the ones who do care about it in here, what's your favorite team? Are you an associate with that team? Do you attend the matches regularly? What are you thinking of current season?
I personally am an HJK Helsinki sympathizer. I might attend one of the next matches as I am visiting some friends locally in a few weeks, actually. But once I've established myself in Finland definitly, I will be buying season tickets probably....it's not like it'd add much to my financial debt at the end of a month, looking at the prices practised.

Why don't you try the big team in Jyväskylä, JJK, which went from victory to victory in the Cup until the defeat to HJK? Attendances have been quite spectacular, over 5000.stewy wrote:i was working at mypa and kooteepee matches, but had to stop because of my move here to jyväskylä. mypa certainly went into a deep hole, when they couldn't even score, but it seems their climbing their way out with the last few games.
We (me and the kids) support FC Honka (Espoo). I have a season ticket and so does my youngest son (who plays in a Honka junior team). I have only watched a few homes games this season and seemed to miss all the exciting matches (if there were any); for me this season has been pretty boring.

i was working for a company, which has been advertised on this site quite recently, as a scout transferring live game statistics through a PDA.Nordisch wrote:Well, I've always seen MyPa as a strong contender...indeed they must be having a very irregular and strange season. Even my HJK as well. What did you work at around those matches?
hmm yeh, i did try, but unfortunately there is already someone working at those games. certainly wouldn't have minded working at their games thoughJuha H. wrote:Why don't you try the big team in Jyväskylä, JJK, which went from victory to victory in the Cup until the defeat to HJK? Well I'm new to this board but have been following & watching IFK Mariehamn since moving here in 2000. I even saw them a couple of times before that when I was here on holiday. Therefore I have watched them rise through the league until they reached the top division 3 years ago. (Although I managed to miss the crucial play-off through being in England - I was watching a game in the pub in England, listening to my own club on the radio, & getting text updates of the IFK match!)
)
They have been inspired lately but really the ride in the top division has been incredible given their status, the size of the town, the almost impossible taks of increasing supporter base & the fact that they are a semi pro team. I really thought they would go down earlier in the season, as they were playing some poor football, which would have been a shame as the club is more professional off the pitch than it has ever been.
They really need a big money backer to establish themselves in the top division, attract pro players & perhaps try for a Euro place.
My son usually attends with me & is a big fan as are most of the boys here given that they often have the players as teachers or dagis assistants. My son had 1 of the players as assistant in his dagis group.
We know several of the players, not least because a couple support my English club, West Ham. My boy really enjoys the matches although I opened his eyes by taking him to a West Ham friendly in England at the end of the summer. Different atmosphere completely, even at a friendly.
