Post by Yosso » Tue Oct 16, 2007 10:02 pm

Hi,

Can anyone tell where I can go with my son to watch the F1 on Sunday, like a hotel, and if english commentry even better but I don't mind.

Or I have a digi box so what card do I need to buy so I can watch the F1?

You can call me 0449314431, I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Have a nice day now.

Well, still it's hard to answer your question, because:

There's no comprehensive list all the places in the whole of Finland, which show F1

and/or

There's 3 different ways receive digital TV in Finland (terrestrial, satellite and cable) and for satellite and cable there's tens companies selling pay TV packages that show F1....

So you're starting to get the point here? We're still no clairvoyants.

The other thing you need to take into account is that Brazil is 5 hours behind us..so the race start time is going to be about 19.00 Finnish time... I think....perhaps someone who has the TV program guide can confirm times..

You mention a "son"...how old? if he is young he will not be allowed into bars where the FI is on TV.

But surely the F1 will be televised on regular Finnish TV so any digibox would do, you don't need a card (commentary in Finnish though).

There is a restaurant (sort of diner) on Keha III in Petikko which IIRC transmits the F1 races. It is called F1 grilli or pitstop or something vaguely like that. Mika Hakinen used to work there when he was a lad and the whole place is decked out as a shrine to him!!! Kids should be allowed in there, it is a family restaurant but you should check first - it might have weird opening times. There are probably buses there from Helsinki.

Hi Folks,
I am still having no luck, I thought with Kimi having a chance to win the world championship there would be FImania like there was when Mika H was doing his stuff.

Anyway I am still looking and hoping. My son is 11 and my daughter 8, I am here visiting them from the Far East, we are staying in Kamppi so I am looking for somewhere around there. Will check out hotels today. Surely there has to be somewhere, there must be. I have a XSAT digi box, can I buy a card for that?

no he wouldn't, since he's no clairvoyant either.

1. WHERE ARE YOU IN FINLAND?
2. DO YOU HAVE A SAT/CABLE/TERRESTRIAL DIGIBOX?
3. WHAT OPERATOR DO YOU HAVE?

When do people realize that we can't read minds... and learn to ask questions with enough information so that someone can answer.

(btw, you'd get a much more sarcastic answer from Hank)

After answering Mcowboy's questions, you probably only have today to buy any subscription ( mebbe till 6pm) before you can watch it on Sunday..
so you re better off scouting Hotels..!!
are you stayin in a hotel? apartment? or wot?
The official transmitter of F1 is MTV3 and they show it on a PPV basis on MTV3 MAX.
Even if you have Viasat, Viasport3 shows it but blacks out Finland during that time. if you dont have MTV3 MAX, your only chance is to grab it on some German FTA channel via satellite.
The above is for when you stay in your own place/rent/house...
If you wanna catch it in a hotel, its entirely left to the staff/manager to control that TV box..

check here for getting a card to watch it:

You have net connection?

At MTV3 netti-tv you can buy 24 hours for 5 euros. If Finnish is a problem to you, it might be difficult with all registration etc. information.

The quality might not match TV proadcast.

Most hotels only have TV in the bar...no kids...

There are one or two smaller hotels that have Loby Reception Area bars that have TVs in a corner, but you cannot just walk in a plop your self down and watch their TV, you need to be with a guest or at least be a customer.
No guarantee that FI will be on...Sunday at 7pm not a good time...

Cant think of one hotel that has a dedicated TV lounge because guests have TV in their rooms...
