Kimi is World Champion!

Post by Mattlill2000 » Sun Oct 21, 2007 9:41 pm

The Ice Man never melted and showed what sisu is all about. What a race! I never would of thought he could pull it off, with Kimi filling the void left by Ferrari losing their Number 1 driver and head designer. But with Mclaren trying their best at self destructing, all of a sudden the partier with his hands in his pants turns out to be "THE" class act of season. Well done Kimi.

well we had to see Mac ruining Kimi's chances for long enough, now it was payback time with Ham's rookie like mistakes and it worked out in Kimi's favor. After all Kimi won 6 races this season in comparison to 4 by Alonso and Ham. So in that respect Kimi earned his championship.

Right on mCowboy! Too bad I had my money on Alonso, not realizing that he wasn't much of a team player.

Alonso is now in deep /&%/ since Massa's contract with Ferrari was continued till 2010 and according to Häkkinen there's slim to none chance Alonso will be staying with Mac, especially since looks like Rosberg would be moving to Mac. There's hardly any chance for Alonso to find a team that has a realistic chance for the championship for next year (I doubt he'd go back to Renault).

...maybe a few tears though  I noticed he kept his helmet on for a long time after the end of race, even while he was hugging all the mechanics.

he was hugging all the mechanics.
Actually hugging the mechanics was banned a while ago and Hamilton was warned of not doing this in case he won the championship in China. We'll see if Kimi gets in trouble for this but probably not since he's driving a Ferrari  The reason for the ban is that there is the possibility of a mechanic placing weights into the drivers pockets so the driver and car won't be underweight at the post race inspection. The driver and car must be at a minimum weight of 600 kilos.

This video has been posted here before, I guess, and today it came SOOOO TRUE!!!!

(ok, it's Mika doing the stunt part for Kimi ;) )

WOOHOO!!!! I have always been a fan of Ferrari and always been a fan of Finland, and what happened tonight was what I was hoping for since too long! It's not like it was the years before, a Finn driving against Ferrari, that always hurt my multinational heart. Tonight everything is just perfect!

Kimi rocks! Forza Ferrari!

The sport is fast becoming a laughing-stock. Impossible to overtake on the road, races won in the pitlane - or in court. Pretty soon the public are going to vote with their feet - hopefully switching to bike racing instead.

I don't think they have the guts to do that... there already was a rumor that Kimi's victory was arranged to compensate to Ferrari the espionage case...

however, here's more info on the matter... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63557

They'll probably use the 1995 precedent with Schumacher and Coulthard - unless they have a burning desire to strip away the last shreds of credibility the sport has.

All round a bad night for headline writers - almost matches the 2000 US election. :)

Edited to add: Reuters have confirmed the result stands. Or.. errrm.. Reuters haven't confirmed it, but Eurosport have, quoting Reuters. Not sure what to make of that.
