Upo Dishwasher Assistance needed

Post by MagicJ » Sun Oct 21, 2007 3:23 pm

Hei,

I have an Upo Pisara 60p diswasher which came with the flat sans manual. It's not working properly, normally the top shelf doesn't clean properly and often plates, cutlery etc. come out with dried food on them.

I have two issues, one is that the filter thingy in the base of the machine has water in it (about two thirds full), question is how do i or should i drain this? I can remove the inner filter/cage but the only way it seems to possible to empty the tray is with a straw. :?

Secondly, i don't really know what the dial on the right hand side of this does, i think i'm supposed to put 'Huuhtelukirkaste' liquid in, and i assume the dial means cleaning power/amount delivered into machine?

I checked for similar threads and searched on Upo.fi but as it's an old model so there are no manuals available to download.

Sorry for the really dull thread  but if anyone can help i'd be grateful, or if anyone would like to lend me their manual i can scan it and return it to them.

Kiitos

I think the water has to be there to keep the seal moist and lubricated, so thats normal. I'm no expert on dishwashers but a common complaint is the dishwasher eventually becomes clogged with residue etc., and this affects the ballast switch which sort of measures amount of water used when washing. Without having to take it apart, you could try and using the dishwasher without dirty dishes and detergent a few times and see if that could possibly help clean the system out. I have no idea what the dial is. Hopefully someone out there will be a little more helpful.

Re: the top shelf not cleaning properly.... we had the same problem and called Siemens' after-sales-service.

The person on the phone told me to prod a thick needle or pin into all the holes in the paddle thing that spins round and delivers the water (there is one at the bottom and one at the top of the machine and there are small holes at intervals on the upper or lower side). Sometimes the holes get clogged up. That seemed to do the trick for us.

She also told us not to use tabs, only powder and NEVER to use tabs with the dissolving wrappers (they don't dissolve).

Sounds like there could be a blockage. All the plastic bits and filters should be removable for cleaning.

Thanks for all your help, we upped the dial and it seems to have worked.

I also hate tablets but couldn't read the boxes so plumped for them. I'll go for powder next time.

I'll bear the 'unclogging the holes' in mind if i have further problems and will remember the empty wash trick as well as residue clogging sounds like a death knell for the old dear.

Richard my wife is so happy as she was looking for something new to read   it upset me though because it made me realise we're missing the veitsiteline  . Maybe i'll make it dull translation practice for myself.

Thanks again much appreciated.

The dial is for the amount of the Finishing liquid that makes the dishes shine..
If your dishes are not coming out that clean, it means that it could do with missing salt..( and I ve said this before on this forum that most dishwashers use these but seldom does the manual mention)..
Next to that net somewhere there is a cap that needs to be filled with Dishwasher salt...

You only need to use salt if you live in a hard water area and there are not many of those in Finland (Lohja, Parainen...)
I used to get through a bucket of salt every month when we lived in Paris but I have never put salt in my machine here.
