getting a loan
getting a loan
hello, i need to ask somethings; i am on maternity leave now and planning to start working again in January,,i have few plans and would need to get a loan to get the plans moving........
1. Can i get a loan when i am a foreigner(with a permanent residence status)..??
2. I suppose the amount of money(loan) depends on your sallary,,does it? could someone clarify briefly.
3.Does my job contract need to be a permanent one? to be able to apply for a loan or even if i am working on temporary bases(first 4 months for some jobs)?
4. What if i stop working before i 've finished paying the loan? (i'm planning to go for a masters degree next year)
5. I suppose i can also apply for a credit card when i start to work, or is it possible get without a job?
any advice, comments will be appreciated.

Well I have just a permanent residence visa and I've had a few loans (to take trips back to my own country with) and I have a couple of credit cards.
It's not hard to get loans here. I had to show I had a job and my income. That's all.
You should try someone like GE MONEY. I was able to get a 4000euro loan from Nordea. Or ask someone here to be a garranteer for you? That would look even better.
Goodluck to getting your loan!

thanks all, my bank is Nordea.i've tried to contact them by phone for the questions, i get some answers but more answers and clarifications seem to be hard because of language!!! many of them spoke english, but it was either poor english or they tried their best and ended up giving me another numbers to call(so as to get someone who speaks english better), i was tired of it and decided to write in this forum and ask...anyway, i'll try to visit a bigger city near the town that i live, i'm sure i'll get staff who are fluent in english there.I live in a small village and english seems to be a language from planet Mars around here!!!!
by the way, did they ask u what kind of contract you have, i mean temporary/permanent? you advised me on getting someone to guarantee for me,,is that necessary..i don't plan to take many thousands, i think something between 2000 and 5000.
the kind of job i am expecting to start is just a cleaning one and not full time(something like 5 hours a day), i don't know how is that going to work out.!!??
thanks anyway, and any more advice will be appreciated.

A garantee isn't that important, but in your case, you won't be working fulltime and I know a cleaner's wage isn't so big (I did that one time when I first came here), so it would probably be get to friend or relative to sign as one. That's what I would do anyway.
Oh I just remembered something. My co worker took out a big loan and she didn't have anyone to garrantee her or anything like this. She paid a small amount of money to the bank to be the garrantee. I am not too sure how that works, but she got 20,000euros that way.
I work fulltime 7 hours and 39mins. Don't ask why 9 mins LOL, some old government thing. I get just under 2000euros a month before taxes and I was able to take out 4000euros with no problem.
I think you should try to take the lower end of the amount you want. 5000euros is alot of money.
I think it also depends on the person you are dealing with. A friend tried to take 7000euros and he got denied. He didn't have any bills like mortage, renting or anything like this and he had a nice wage. He went to another bank and they gave it straight away. So I think it really does depend on the how nice the person is too LOL.

Re: getting a loan
yes....albeit..if you have an account in a bank,. then generally, you qualify for a loan but the amount varies..Eledi wrote:hello, i need to ask somethings; i am on maternity leave now and planning to start working again in January,,i have few plans and would need to get a loan to get the plans moving........

Obviously..unless you want to take a loan for a business!!2. I suppose the amount of money(loan) depends on your sallary,,does it? could someone clarify briefly.
Yes..how do you think that they expect to trust you to repay..3.Does my job contract need to be a permanent one? to be able to apply for a loan or even if i am working on temporary bases(first 4 months for some jobs)?
It doesnt matter if your "testing " period is 4 months as long as the contract says, permanent full-time..
If you tell them, they ll appreciate it but probably ask you to pay the loan as per the agreement signed..and if not, then they ll send you notice after notice..until.4. What if i stop working before i 've finished paying the loan? (i'm planning to go for a masters degree next year)
yes, but whether you get it depends on your "debt worthiness"..5. I suppose i can also apply for a credit card when i start to work, or is it possible get without a job?
any advice, comments will be appreciated.
I would approach the bank for a loan after you have a Business proposal to start a cleaning business..and there are templates available for it..
or you can attend an uusiyritys course if you are unemployed!!

Sometimes, they offer you one without a job with a credit limit of KELA payments ( aroudn 250-500 euros per month) but with very high interest..

thanks
thank you very much Raamv for the clarifications, thanks again, you are so kind...see its half past 11, i cannot even sleep, i am going through all jobsites existing in Finland,,i do this on weekends, and monday till friday, i just sit and wait for replies,,,2 years now, no success,,,but thats life, as a saying,,NEVER GIVE UP...thanks, i'll get myself ready for january 2008 working and loan and other plans,,,if theres a chance of getting the credit card even now, i'll to go and investigate that, cause i get KELA benefits..
Tell that thanks to those idiots who paint a picture that Finland is as easy as it gets..
The ground realities are harder..and thats why its good to help people with certain amount of direct truth and reality instead of "yea..This bank will give you a loan of 25000 euros if you have a good plan!!"...
