By bus or train to Helsinki from Tampere?
By bus or train to Helsinki from Tampere?
Hi all,
I have work at Indian embassy for which I would be coming from Tampere to Hesinki. Is it near from railway station or from bus station so that I can plan if I need to take the train or bus?
The address is: Satamakatu 2 A 8
00160 Helsinki

The Embassy is on Katajanokka, so it does not much matter which you take - train or bus to Helsinki. It's not a very long way to walk to the Embassy from the bus/railway station (they're rather close to each other), but if you wish you can take the tram 4 or 4T (just check the direction, you should go towards Katajanokka through Aleksi and NOT up the Mannerheimintie towards Munkkiniemi!)
You can see where the embassy is located by clicking here. Just type "Satamakatu 2" into the box and click "Search".

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. And for the link too.
Could you tell me if I have to take the bus from Tampere, where would I have to get down? Like in Tampere here we have Linjaautoasema as the main bus stop where we get down for all the buses coming from outside Tampere. Is there a bus stop nearest to this place?
Sorry for bothering with lots of questions.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong, anyone) that most if not all buses nowadays head for the Kamppi bus terminal/shopping mall. That's the end of the line, so to speak, so you should get off there. Because of the Embassy's location, it does not make sense to step off any earlier from the long distance bus.mycp2005 wrote:Hi,

It's maybe one kilometre or so from Kamppi (it's close, a few hundred metres from, the Railway station) to Katajanokka.
Most buses stop at Kamppi ...but a few seem to stop/end of the line outside the railway station but I think these are Airport buses and a few local buses..Not the long distance ones..sammy wrote:

Where one could pick up the tram for Katajanokka.??
Out-side Stockmanns ..but how to explain how to get there

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.
Red circle = Kamppi bus terminal/shoppin mallsinikettu wrote:Out-side Stockmanns ..but how to explain how to get there
Blue circle = Stockmann's department store
Green dots = mycp2005's footprints
Light Blue line = tram line 4 + direction to take
Red Squares (although we're not in Moscow) = approximate tram stop sites

Enough?
