Post by Eledi » Mon Oct 22, 2007 10:28 pm

hello, we've been separated for half a year now, i am planning to file a divorce, one thing i wanted to ask...do you know if i am entitled to get something,(when we had signed prenuptials agreement?)...we have kids and we'll have joint custody(i'll be living with them) ...heard from someone that there is a chance that i might have a right to get something (though not 50%)..........any advice? if you've heard from someone, or have an experince???

Well, you need to go to the municipal oikeusaputoimisto to ask about legal matters. Basically the children are entitled to child support, and the custody agreement is a good thing to get the papers done properly.

i've got child support already, 6 months ago we did those papers, plus the custody(joint), i didn't want to fight for full custody, cause we are at peace with each other and i think its good for the children too( father is free to meet and see them any day, anytime..when we call and agree ofcourse)...the main thing now is i am planning to go and file for divorce, and i am not sure about my rights.......oikeusaputoimisto is one place, sosiaali people told me to go,,but i decided to write here and ask first, as i will get some hints/tips in english..so when i go to legad advice,,i can try to mix up english, with my poor finnish(normally in the end, i end up missing some important words in the discussion),,anyway, they do try to arrange fluent english speaker,,but the lawyer i met one time,(who was supposed to be fluent in english), was just NOT

You basically should ask for a translator.
